Matt Lewis joined EPS in 2021 as Mechanical Designer. Through internships and summer positions while earning his BFA and MFA, Matt gained firsthand experience in theatre technical direction designing scenery, staging, and mechanical effects for regional theatre productions such as Twelfth Night, Saturday Night Fever, and Singin’ in the Rain, as well as elements of national tours such as The Band’s Visit. He has extensive knowledge of rigging and automation in arena and theater applications and is skilled in tackling the kinds of complex technical problems that EPS solves.
First introduction to the industry:
I grew up around the industry. My father has been a production manager for over 30 years, so I have always felt connected to the world behind the scenes of live entertainment. There wasn’t any one particular thing that did it, but I have a number of experiences as a kid, including meeting Peter Pan and Big Bird that pushed me towards this career.
What I listen to at work:
My music taste is all over the place, but at work I tend to listen to pop-punk or Alt-Rock.
Italy and Greece, so much to see and learn about!
When I'm not at work...
I love Mountain Biking and I’m looking forward to finding some trails around Las Vegas. I am also hoping to start working on my pilot’s license in 2021.
