Josh "Fritz" Friedensohn

Technical Director

Fritz is a Designer, Engineer, Technical Director and Artist from New York and has been working at EPS since 2018. He has made a career of intertwining art and engineering, ever-striving to achieve a balance between the left and right sides of the brain. In his role at EPS, he translates artistic concepts into achievable technical solutions, while considering factors such as longevity, maintainability and the guests’ experience. He can often be found gathering inspiration (read: “nerding out”) at theme parks, public art installations, airports, music festivals, and the like. Fritz brings over a decade of varied entertainment experience to the team, and loves being involved in a project from its creative beginnings to its detailed implementation.

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Boston University

MFA in Technical Direction, California Institute of the Arts

First introduction to the industry:

I got into Technical Theatre in High School, mostly because some of my friends were already doing it, but I very quickly fell in love with building large sets and structures. I was enamored by the whole process and loved being part of evolving a concept from a piece of paper to a finished product that people could walk on and interact with. My very first production was Oklahoma during my sophomore year of high school.

What I listen to at work:

Electronic Music – Dance, Tribal, Bass, House, Electropop

Dream Vacation:

Seeing the Northern Lights in Iceland.

When I'm not at work...

I’m hiking, biking, wakeboarding, running, doing yoga, visiting theme parks, or enjoying live music and public art.
